MAISHA: Call for Dancers, Choreographers and an Artistic Director from Africa and Europe (Ethiopia)

MAISHA has launched a call for applicants for the positions of dancers, choreographers and artistic director, for a three-week residency in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (1–24 May), in preparation for a performance in Addis on 25 May 2024.

MAISHA is looking for 8 dancers from Africa and Europe to prepare an 80-minute dance performance. They are looking for dancers in all styles, from classic to contemporary and everything in between, with at least five years of professional experience.

MAISHA is also looking for highly skilled and passionate support staff, including:

Artistic Director (responsible for costume design and set design)
Lead Choreographer (responsible for creating innovative and captivating dance routines, combining African and European traditional and contemporary dance, directing rehearsals and guiding dancers to bring performances to life)
Assistant Choreographer (responsible for supporting the lead choreographer)

For each of these positions, African or European nationality is required (both is a plus).

Financial package of 5,000 EUR to participate in the 3‐week residence in Addis Ababa, rehearsals and at least one performance on 25 May in Addis Ababa (and preparation for these in the case of the support staff) will be provided. A total of 3,000 EUR is provided for each additional performance happening in 2024 (maximum of three). Dedicated rehearsals are necessary. Travel opportunities to different countries, accommodation and local transportation are also provided.
