ISRAEL- A protein-based specialist NextFerm, launches a vegan protein formulation to avoid common digestion problems associated with plant-based protein supplements and expects to create a market shift away from animal products.
The company claims the protein formulation has a neutral taste and a perfect nutritional profile that can be added to dairy products like milk and cheese.
Moreover, it is solving the problem of amino acids lacking in common plant-based proteins and digestibility in plant proteins contrary to traditional products like whey.
Elzaphan Hotham, CEO of NextFerm Technologies USA said, “our protein has all the amino acids that resemble that of whey or other animal-based products. It is also non-GMO and completely vegan. Another huge advantage is that it is readily applicable, there is no regulatory barrier as a novel food ingredient.”
The company has a huge interest in dairy, especially in spreadable cheese, regular cheese, and yogurt areas, and is considering them in the future.
NextFerm develops and produces active ingredients for the food industry based on a combination of intellectual property and proprietary know-how in areas including non-GMO technologies and methodologies.
This is done by enhancing specific characteristics of yeast strains isolated from nature; downstream processing, purification, extraction, and formulation; and clinical research and regulatory work.
In the last few weeks, NextFerm decided to commercialize its protein products that it had been developing with immediate marketing in the US and the EU markets.
Nextferm posted an increase in revenue from $95 thousand to $242 thousand in the fiscal year 2021. The revenues reflect an increase in demand for the Company’s products and services due to favorable market conditions.
In comparison to the third quarter of 2020, NextFerm recorded a net revenue increase of 150% to $68 thousand. These revenues derive from the first sales of Astaferm™ starting in September 2020 while its 2020 annual net revenues amounted to US$95 thousand.
NextFerm’s goal is to develop exclusive active ingredients for the global nutrition market, including carotenoids, prebiotics, and proteins.
